Early this year, Plex, a Troy, Mich.– based company that works with manufacturers to deploy cloud solutions, surveyed more than 130 of its more than 400 customers. What they learned could have implications for space utilization, logistics, innovation and location decision-making by global companies. Among their fndings: » Manufacturers are leveraging consumer tech for the shop foor: 93 percent of respondents use consumer tablets in their manufacturing operations. » Seventy-four percent say they achieved improvements in their processes with the cloud. » Ninety percent of survey respondents said data security either wasn't impacted or actually improved with the adoption of cloud solutions. » Seventy-seven percent expect to increase plant or enterprise integration and 73 percent plan to enhance quality programs as a result of cloud technologies. » Fifteen percent say cloud technologies will allow them to expand into new geographical markets.
